Prior to the Progress Conference, teachers can submit support materials that provide the appraiser with evidence about their performance. This year’s deadline for submitting support materials to appraisers is December 2, 2011. If a teacher has his or her progress conference scheduled for a date prior to December 2nd, he or she will need to provide support materials to his or her appraiser at least 5 instructional days before the date of the scheduled conference.

In my role as an Effective Teachers Initiative Campus Representative, I wanted to let you know about a valuable way that you can offer feedback to HISD about the new teacher appraisal and development system. HISD is hosting a series of focus groups with teachers and appraisers to gather feedback on topics such as the summer training, the system’s requirements, and its impact on teaching and learning in HISD.

To ensure that HISD gathers feedback that represents a variety of teachers, participants will be randomly selected based on grade-level, content area, and years of teaching experience. All participants will be notified if they have been selected by Friday, November 4th.

This is the central online repository for appraisers and teachers for materials and forms on the appraisal and development system. For portal access, log into the HISD HR employee portal, go to the Department Information directory and click on Appraisals. In the upper left-hand corner of the screen, click on Employee Appraisal Systems and then select Teacher Appraisal and Development System. Resources include editable IPDP, PPA, and Feedback forms, the Appraisal and Development Implementation Manual, the Appraisal Overview Calendar, and many more.
