FEDERAL SNAPSHOT
21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) serves as a supplementary program to enhance state or local reform efforts by providing out-of-school services to students and their families.
• Targets high-need, high-poverty, and low performing schools.
• Ensures highly effective programs to assist students in meeting academic standards in core subjects (math, reading, science, social studies).
• Provides academic assistance along with enrichment opportunities to help students meet academic standards and graduate ready for college and/or the workforce.
• Extends learning opportunities outside of the regular school day.
 
WHO WE SERVE
Grants for 21st CCLC programs are given to schools that have a high percentage of low-income families (40% or more students identified as economically disadvantaged).
 
WHAT WE OFFER (2009-2010)
Worthing program offers Fall, Spring and Summer sessions that include a wide range of activites:
GED: General Equivalency Diploma
Homework Assistance/Tutorials: To provide students with the assistance to complete homework, class projects and research work.
SAT/ACT Test preparation: This course has been designed to increase testing scores.
Dance Program: Activities for Drill Team dance, Twirling, Band dance, Color Guard flags, and Hip Hop dance.
Fitness Activities: Open Gym, Strengthen and Conditioning, Weight Training, and Aerobics.
Game/Technology: Students learn tips and tricks for playing videos games. Film Making (video recording and editing) DJ-ing (disc jockey)
